Our ministry is centered around three major principles:
1) The value of every individual as a child of God.
2) The need every person has for real community.
3) That true health care is holistic, and should focus on the spiritual, social, and emotional, as well as the physical.
Christ's Family Clinic began with a professor's question asked of a minister, Scott Sager, who lives in the Park Cities, "Who are the marginalized in your neighborhood?".
Scott knew there were few if any "marginalized" that live in his blessed community. However, he soon realized there were, indeed, hundreds of marginalized that worked in his neighborhood every single day. In fact, they worked in the homes of his neighbors, taking care of those homes and the children that live in them.
Scott knew, that while these domestic employees made a fair wage, the nature of their jobs did not provide them access to health insurance coverage. He also knew it was extremely expensive and entirely unfordable for those individuals to pay for private health insurance individually.
Scott thought it was a great opportunity for the community to give back to those who were trusted to care for their homes and children each day. He began talking to, and in 2003, formed a partnership with Central Dallas Ministries, Health Texas Provider Network's Office of Community Health, and the Dallas County Medical Society's "Project Access Dallas" to provide low cost health care to the uninsured domestic employees that work in Dallas County.
Today, Christ's Family Clinic is one of the many programs offered by Central Dallas Ministries, through its Community Health Services.
